Don't Forget The Coaster!

Since moving to Wyoming, I've found myself with a bit more energy and time.....one of the many benefits of not being stuck in L.A. traffic every day.  I've always wanted to learn crochet and since time was not an issue, I decided to teach myself.  I spent looooong hours working on different scarves, scouring the internet for patterns as I get super bored quickly and can only make the same basic scarf so many times.  I can't even begin to tell you how many scarves and hats we have now.  For a few weeks there I think I was sporting something newly crocheted just about every day of the week = lots of hours sitting!.  I seriously looked in the mirror one day and told my husband: "Babe, I'm getting a crochet booty!"  I was just happy to have warm and cozy accessories; in my favorite colors and in fabulous textures, for the cold Wyoming winter.

Anyways, we're still not finished unpacking.  One of these days, I promise.  Some weeks ago, we brought in our coffee table - a gift from my cousin's wife.  It's a pretty, round marble table with a wooden base....kinda sorta an Antoinette-ish feel to it.  As I was cleaning it, I noticed it had water stains!  I hadn't thought of using coasters, really.  I just figured since it's a hard surface, it could withstand the abuse.  I tried taking them out with some warm sudsy water, but that didn't work so I'll have to do some research on how to get those stains out.  So, a new house rule is:  Don't forget the coaster!  Since I couldn't establish a new house rule without the proper tools to follow it with, I got busy!  Making what?  Why, coasters, of course.....crocheted coaster!  I wanted them to be functional, but also pieces to "accessorize" my table with.  Maybe it was the cold weather, but only warm, rich colors called my attention.  Colors that made me think of  warm spices and rich textures.  After making a few sets for us,  my husband said: "You should put these in your shop."  I didn't think coasters and head pieces really went together (though I consider them both in their own right to be fabulous accessories) and since I've been wanting to add a home accessories department (if you will) to my little corner on Etsy St., I decided to open houseoftelsa-MAISON.  I have so many ideas of things I'd like to offer, but am starting slowly for now because I have way too many ideas for head pieces in my head that I need to materialize or I'll go nuts!

p.s.

I've eased up on the scarf and hat making just enough to make time for the gym.....this crochet booty was getting out of hand!
